Refetor

It was the old dining room of the Hieronymites. The community ate in silence while a monk read from the pulpit. It was sponsored by King John II of Catalonia-Aragon. On the keystones of the vaults we may see the coat of arms of Catalonia-Aragon and St Jerome’s image.

The painting at the back of the refectory (16th century) features one of the visits paid to the monastery by Emperor Charles I. The Last Supper (in the same spot where there had been another painted at that time) is a work by Francesc Costa Amigó. In the foreground we may see the wine cellars.
